How to buy and sell ETH with USDT on OTCN
Easy trade converts one asset into another at the rate shown in the trade card above. To buy Ethereum, select Buy, enter the amount of USDT you want to spend and check how much ETH you will receive. To sell, switch to Sell and enter the amount of ETH you want to convert back to USDT.
The rate moves with the market, so always review the amount you will receive before you confirm. If you want to set your own price with limit orders, use the ETH/USDT spot market instead. Fees for every product are listed on the Fees page.
What is Ethereum (ETH)?
Ether (ETH) is the native currency of Ethereum, a public blockchain built to run smart contracts: programs that execute on their own once set conditions are met. Vitalik Buterin proposed the platform, and a group of co-founders that included Gavin Wood helped build it ahead of its July 2015 launch. No central operator runs the network. Thousands of independent nodes maintain it instead, and many other tokens are issued on it as well.
Any transaction on Ethereum, from sending ether to swapping tokens on a decentralized exchange, costs a gas fee paid in ETH. The Merge in September 2022 switched the network to proof of stake. Validators now lock up ETH to propose and vote on blocks, and they earn newly issued ETH for that work. Ether also serves as collateral in decentralized lending. Its supply has no fixed ceiling: issuance adds ETH, while the base portion of every fee is burned for good, so the total can rise or fall.
What is Tether (USDT)?
Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of 1 US dollar. It launched in 2014 and is issued on several blockchains, including Ethereum and Tron. Because its price is meant to stay close to 1 USD, traders use USDT to price other crypto assets and to keep a dollar-denominated balance without leaving the crypto market.
Why trade Ethereum against USDT?
Ether is what Ethereum users spend on gas and what borrowers post as collateral in decentralized lending. USDT, one of the many tokens issued on Ethereum, aims to track the US dollar. Measuring ETH against it expresses any amount of ether as a dollar figure. Converting between the two can move part of an ether holding into USDT, or rebuild an ETH balance from USDT.
