What is TRON (TRX)?
TRON is a public blockchain used for payments, stablecoin transfers and decentralized applications, and TRX is its native token. The project was founded in 2017 by Justin Sun. TRX was first issued as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. TRON's own mainnet went live in May 2018, and the ERC-20 tokens were swapped for native TRX in June 2018.
TRON uses delegated proof of stake. TRX holders stake tokens to gain voting power and elect 27 Super Representatives, who take turns producing a block about every three seconds and vote on changes to network parameters. Staking also provides bandwidth and energy, the resources needed to send transactions and run smart contracts. When an account lacks these resources, the fee is paid by burning TRX. There is no maximum supply. New TRX is issued as rewards to block producers and voters, while burned fees remove TRX from circulation, so the total supply can rise or fall over time.
What is Tether (USDT)?
Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of 1 US dollar. It launched in 2014 and is issued on several blockchains, including Ethereum and Tron. Because its price is meant to stay close to 1 USD, traders use USDT to price other crypto assets and to keep a dollar-denominated balance without leaving the crypto market.
Why trade TRON against USDT?
TRON is widely used to send USDT. Each USDT transfer on the network uses bandwidth and energy, which are covered by staked TRX or paid for by burning TRX, so people who move USDT on TRON often keep a TRX balance. Quoting TRX in USDT shows its price in dollar terms and lets you switch between TRX and a stable balance in one step, without going through a bank.
