What is Injective (INJ)?
Injective is a layer 1 network meant to support financial applications, among them exchanges, derivatives and tokenized assets. INJ is the network's token. Eric Chen and Albert Chon founded the project in 2018, and Binance Labs incubated it. INJ appeared first in October 2020 as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, with part of the initial supply sold via Binance Launchpad. Today it also exists natively on Injective's own chain, built using the Cosmos SDK.
Injective is secured by proof of stake based on Tendermint. Validators, along with the delegators who back them, put INJ at stake, and that stake can be slashed if a validator misbehaves. INJ also covers transaction fees, gives stakers token-weighted votes on upgrades and network parameters, and can serve as collateral in some derivatives markets. Supply started at 100 million INJ. Stakers receive newly minted INJ as block rewards, while a monthly community buyback swaps onchain revenue for INJ and burns it, so total supply can move up or down over time.
What is Tether (USDT)?
Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of 1 US dollar. It launched in 2014 and is issued on several blockchains, including Ethereum and Tron. Because its price is meant to stay close to 1 USD, traders use USDT to price other crypto assets and to keep a dollar-denominated balance without leaving the crypto market.
Why trade Injective against USDT?
INJ is the token behind fees, staking and governance votes on Injective, a chain aimed at exchanges and other financial apps. Quoting it against USDT turns its value into a US dollar figure. INJ's price can swing sharply in either direction, and one conversion shifts a holding from INJ into USDT, a stablecoin that aims to hold a one-dollar value, or back again. Crypto markets keep trading overnight and on weekends.
