What is The Graph (GRT)?
The Graph is a decentralized protocol that indexes blockchain data and serves it through open APIs, called subgraphs, that developers publish. Applications read that data with GraphQL queries instead of operating their own indexing servers. Yaniv Tal, Brandon Ramirez and Jannis Pohlmann founded the project in 2018. Its decentralized network went live on Ethereum in December 2020, and protocol activity has since shifted to Arbitrum One, an Ethereum layer-2 network.
Several network roles use GRT, the protocol's utility token. Indexers stake it to process data and answer queries, and part of that stake can be slashed for incorrect results. Delegators assign GRT to Indexers, Curators signal with it on subgraphs worth indexing, and developers may pay query fees in it. The Graph Council oversees protocol changes. Supply began at 10 billion GRT and has no hard cap. Issuance targets 3% a year, paid mostly as indexing rewards, and the protocol burns part of query fees as well as the curation tax.
What is Tether (USDT)?
Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of 1 US dollar. It launched in 2014 and is issued on several blockchains, including Ethereum and Tron. Because its price is meant to stay close to 1 USD, traders use USDT to price other crypto assets and to keep a dollar-denominated balance without leaving the crypto market.
Why trade The Graph against USDT?
Indexers, Delegators and Curators use GRT to take part in The Graph, and developers may use it to pay for queries. For these participants, GRT/USDT is a direct link between the token they work with and USDT, whose value is designed to follow the US dollar. Since USDT is a common unit for budgeting and accounting, the pair also expresses GRT's value in dollar terms. Easy trade uses the displayed rate for each conversion, and the market stays open at all hours, seven days a week.
