What is Jito (JTO)?
Jito (JTO) gives holders a vote over the Jito Network, a protocol on Solana. The network is known for JitoSOL, a liquid staking pool, and for MEV (maximum extractable value) infrastructure such as the Jito-Solana validator client. Jito Labs built the protocol, while the Jito Foundation coordinates its governance. JTO was introduced on Solana in December 2023, and 10% of the supply was allocated to an airdrop for early JitoSOL holders, validators and other network users.
Votes are held in the Jito DAO on the Realms governance platform. Through proposals, holders can change the fees charged by the JitoSOL stake pool and by Jito restaking, tune StakeNet delegation parameters and direct the DAO treasury, which holds JTO alongside fees the protocol has earned. A total of 1 billion JTO was created at launch and divided among community growth, ecosystem development, core contributors and investors, with contributor and investor allocations vesting over three years. Because the token's mint authority has been revoked, that supply cannot grow.
What is Tether (USDT)?
Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of 1 US dollar. It launched in 2014 and is issued on several blockchains, including Ethereum and Tron. Because its price is meant to stay close to 1 USD, traders use USDT to price other crypto assets and to keep a dollar-denominated balance without leaving the crypto market.
Why trade Jito against USDT?
JTO's main function is governance. Holders vote in the Jito DAO on stake pool fees, restaking fees and treasury spending, and the token's market price can shift after those decisions or after Jito protocol news. The JTO/USDT pair links the token to USDT, a stablecoin that aims to keep a value of one US dollar, so holders can step out of their Jito exposure and step back in.
