What is JasmyCoin (JASMY)?
Jasmy is a Japanese data and Internet of Things (IoT) platform, and JasmyCoin (JASMY) is the cryptocurrency used within it. Behind it is Jasmy Incorporated, a Tokyo company set up in April 2016 by several former Sony executives, including Kunitake Ando, who once served as Sony's president. The token's smart contract was deployed on Ethereum in December 2019 under the ERC-20 standard, and JASMY first became tradable on exchanges in 2021.
The platform rests on the principle that individuals should own and manage their personal information, including what their connected devices record. Each person's data is stored in a personal data locker. Jasmy's whitepaper sets out a model in which businesses pay JASMY to use that data with the owner's consent, while owners earn tokens for agreeing to share it. Businesses also cover platform service fees in JASMY. Supply is fixed at 50 billion tokens, all of which came into existence when the contract was deployed, and the contract has no function to mint more.
What is Tether (USDT)?
Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of 1 US dollar. It launched in 2014 and is issued on several blockchains, including Ethereum and Tron. Because its price is meant to stay close to 1 USD, traders use USDT to price other crypto assets and to keep a dollar-denominated balance without leaving the crypto market.
Why trade JasmyCoin against USDT?
A JASMY/USDT quote shows JasmyCoin's price against USDT, a stablecoin that aims to track the US dollar. Project tokens such as JASMY can react strongly to news, including company announcements and listing decisions by exchanges. Some holders therefore use USDT to keep a dollar-denominated balance, which lets them stay within crypto instead of cashing out to fiat. JASMY trades at any hour, and the market stays open on weekends.
