How to buy and sell OP with USDT on OTCN
Easy trade converts one asset into another at the rate shown in the trade card above. To buy Optimism, select Buy, enter the amount of USDT you want to spend and check how much OP you will receive. To sell, switch to Sell and enter the amount of OP you want to convert back to USDT.

What is Optimism (OP)?
OP is the token used to govern the Optimism Collective, the community that oversees OP Mainnet and the wider Superchain. OP Mainnet is an Ethereum layer 2 built as an optimistic rollup: it executes transactions off Ethereum's main chain and posts their data back to Ethereum. First announced in April 2022, OP reached its earliest holders in May 2022 through an airdrop on OP Mainnet.
OP holders vote on protocol upgrades, network settings and the spending of ecosystem funds, either directly or through a delegate. Governance has two chambers: weight in the Token House depends on OP holdings, while the Citizens' House gives every member a single vote. Chains built with the open-source OP Stack, including Unichain and Ink, send part of their revenue to the Collective. Fees on OP Mainnet are paid in ETH rather than OP. The genesis supply was 4,294,967,296 OP, with no hard cap. New tokens may be minted once a year, currently up to 2% of total supply.
What is Tether (USDT)?
Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of 1 US dollar. It launched in 2014 and is issued on several blockchains, including Ethereum and Tron. Because its price is meant to stay close to 1 USD, traders use USDT to price other crypto assets and to keep a dollar-denominated balance without leaving the crypto market.
Why trade Optimism against USDT?
Pricing OP against USDT shows what Optimism's governance token is worth in dollars at a given time. Holders who want less exposure to the Optimism ecosystem can swap OP into USDT without withdrawing to a bank. The same conversion works the other way for anyone building a position. Crypto markets have no closing bell, so trading continues through weekends and holidays.
