What is Floki (FLOKI)?
Floki takes its name from Elon Musk's Shiba Inu dog, and the token is sometimes still referred to as Floki Inu. FLOKI first appeared on Ethereum in June 2021 as a meme coin. In July 2021, a core team drawn from community members relaunched the project, and a version on BNB Chain was added soon after. Both versions were migrated to new token contracts in January 2022, a change that introduced DAO voting.
The project presents FLOKI as the utility token behind several products: Valhalla, an NFT game; FlokiFi, a set of DeFi tools; and University of Floki, an education platform. In the Floki DAO, each token carries one vote on proposals. Purchases and sales on decentralized exchanges pay a small tax into the project treasury, and the project says some products put part of their fees toward buying back and burning FLOKI. Each chain received 10 trillion tokens with no further minting possible, and one-to-one swaps keep the two supplies linked.
What is Tether (USDT)?
Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of 1 US dollar. It launched in 2014 and is issued on several blockchains, including Ethereum and Tron. Because its price is meant to stay close to 1 USD, traders use USDT to price other crypto assets and to keep a dollar-denominated balance without leaving the crypto market.
Why trade Floki against USDT?
FLOKI/USDT links a token whose price rests largely on community interest and broader market mood with a stablecoin that aims to hold a one-dollar value. A USDT balance can be converted into FLOKI directly, and someone stepping back can keep the proceeds in USDT rather than in another crypto asset. FLOKI's value can change quickly, and the pair has no closing bell, so conversions can happen at night or on a Sunday.
