What is World Liberty Financial (WLFI)?
WLFI serves as the governance token of World Liberty Financial, a crypto company set up in 2024 by a group of co-founders that includes Zach Witkoff, Zak Folkman, Chase Herro and members of the Trump family. The token went on sale in October 2024 and was issued under the ERC-20 standard on Ethereum. It stayed locked against transfer until September 2025, when it became tradable following a vote by holders.
According to the project, WLFI is intended for governance and nothing else. A proposal affecting World Liberty Financial, whose products include the USD1 stablecoin, is first debated on a community forum and then decided in an off-chain Snapshot ballot, so voting carries no gas fee. Each holder's voting weight is capped. The initial supply was 100 billion WLFI. In 2025 holders approved a buyback-and-burn program, and some tokens have been burned since then. Tokens allocated to founders, the team and early supporters sit under lockups and multi-year vesting schedules.
What is Tether (USDT)?
Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of 1 US dollar. It launched in 2014 and is issued on several blockchains, including Ethereum and Tron. Because its price is meant to stay close to 1 USD, traders use USDT to price other crypto assets and to keep a dollar-denominated balance without leaving the crypto market.
Why trade World Liberty Financial against USDT?
The WLFI/USDT pair sets the World Liberty Financial governance token against USDT, a stablecoin that aims to hold a value of one US dollar. Pricing WLFI this way lets holders track, in dollar amounts, how the market reacts to project events such as governance votes, token unlocks and burns. Converting into USDT turns a WLFI position into a dollar-denominated balance, and the pair works in both directions at any hour.
